Welcome to Lakeside Plant and Garden Centre - often called the “Best Kept Secret in Telford” by our customers. It is a family owned business which was started in 2005 by Steve Evans. Steve and his team have well over 60 years experience in plant and garden care but Steve’s objective was to create a business which was much more than a garden centre. He wanted to offer visitors an experience that will bring them back time and time again by offering the best quality plants and equipment all at competitive prices, together with friendly knowledgeable staff and a personal service in a relaxing open environment.
Since then, with the support of loyal customers, Lakeside has continued to grow with the site now covering over 2 acres of Greenfield site close to Priorslee Lake.
In addition to offering one of the largest ranges of high quality plants in Shropshire, Lakeside also caters for all your gardening needs including tools, pots and tubs, ornaments, water features, bespoke furniture and everything you would expect in garden care.
You will also find a wide selection of bird care products including houses, feeders and feed. Looking for something unusual then come and see the range of gift items and special occasion ranges such as for Easter, Halloween, Christmas and the New Year.
Lakeside is also proud to participate in the Telford and Wrekin Council TLC Card scheme where registered residents can enjoy a further 10% discount on all of full price products.
As Lakeside grew, Steve created a rescue centre for a range of animals including Wallabies, Mara, Kuni Kuni pigs, Guinea pigs, rabbits, Pigmy goats, chickens and ducks.
This proved so popular with families and local schools who visited to learn about and feed the animals in our unique and dedicated park that the rescue centre developed into an Animal Park with the addition of even more animals and, latterly, Meerkats.
The long term plan was originally to develop the Park into a Zoo and, although work had started in the Autumn of 2016, progress was delayed due to poor weather. However, a further, even more exciting, development evolved – the decision by Scott Adams to relocate ‘Exotic Zoo’ to the Lakeside site. When fully open, Exotic Zoo will manage the area and will provide an opportunity for visitors to see some amazing and endangered animals from around the world, offering Animal Experiences, Exotic Education and Animal Therapies in a unique environment.
We also actively support local charities including the PDSA, Salvation Army, Scouts and Cub groups and our large car park is ideal for hosting our very popular events such as the tropical animal shows. Our involvement with the community also extends to working with local schools, including Redhill Primary School, Priorslee and Overley Hall Special Needs School.
Where possible all our products are locally sourced, all our packaging is recycled and we consciously make every effort to minimise our carbon footprint.
Our centre is also complimented by fresh farm produce which is available from the nearby Green Fields farm shop and the adjacent Quackers Play Barn, where children can continue to enjoy themselves once they have visited us.
We like to think that, as we have grown, we can now offer a unique experience and an enjoyable day out for all the family and earn the reputation that we are .........
